Sometimes you just need to get away from it all. At The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake, located in Ohio’s wine country, you can escape, for a romantic hideaway or explore all the beauty that nature has to offer.
The Lodge offers nine pet-friendly hotel rooms. Each room is on the first floor, facing the lake, with a patio door that lead directly out into the courtyard. Pet parents can also walk the paved trail along the Lake Erie shoreline and into Geneva State Park for a relaxing hike.
The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake has always been pet-friendly. Daisy Hall, Marketing & Website Coordinator for The Lodge, told i Love Dog-Friendly that the guests have been very receptive and excited that about their pet-friendly policy.
“We have found that once a pet owner stays, we see them and their pets return again and again for memorable family getaways. Some pets are ‘Preferred Guests’ and are known by name at our front desk. The staff gets acquainted with the pets and may even slip them a treat or two during their visit!” she said.
The hotel allows dogs and other pets, with no size or breed restrictions, and a recommendation of just two pets per room. A $25 non-refundable pet fee per room is charged.
Hall recalls a story about a pet mom and her pooch that stayed at the hotel in 2007 and became a part of The Lodge’s photo shoot.
“A guest was out relaxing by a tree, enjoying Lake Erie with her dog, and we happened to be holding a photo shoot for property photos that day. We loved their serene looks and the relaxing pet-friendly ambiance they personified, so much that we asked them to pose for a pet-friendly photo,” Hall said. “The guest ended up missing her dinner reservations with her husband and we had to track him down and let him know where she was! Needless to say we provided dinner for the couple to show our appreciation!”
The Lodge also offers plenty of amenities for its two-legged guests. All rooms have coffee makers; hairdryers; irons and ironing boards; and complimentary, high-speed Internet access.
The hotel offers other amenities upon request at the front desk, such as mini-refrigerators, microwaves, cribs and rollaway beds.
For pet parents traveling with their dogs, Hall offers these tips: “Traveling with your pet can be fun and reassuring. When traveling with a pet, remember to find a pet-friendly hotel on ilovedogfriendly.com and always follow pet guidelines at hotels including placing your pet in a pet carrier or cage when you are out of the room and being present when housekeeping comes to tidy up. Remembering to follow these and other important guidelines will relieve the stress for you, your pet and hotel staff.”
