Spooky Pooch Halloween Parade at the Chicago Botanic Garden

For just two hours, costumed canines will be allowed into the garden to participate in this parade. There will be a costume contest, and vendors and non-profits will be on hand selling dog products and providing information. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
Tickets: $17 per dog ($14 for botanical garden members) before October 28; $20 on the day of the event. No charge for spectators. Parking is $20 (free for members).
When: Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. The costume contest is at 1:30, and the parade starts at 2:00. Dogs must leave the garden by 4:00.

The Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco is hosting a Howl-O-Ween Party with a costume contest on Halloween Eve. The hotel is part of the Kimpton chain, a very dog-friendly boutique hotel company (it has no size or breed restrictions). All well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome. The event is free, but a donation to the SF SPCA is encouraged.

Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade
Long Beach, Calif.
Billed as the largest Halloween pet event in the world, this year’s popular parade is hoping to break the current world record of 337 costumed dogs in a parade. Be sure your pooch is wearing a minimum of two accessories, such as a bandana and shirt.
Along with the parade, there will be fun activities like a Bulldog kissing booth; bobbing for Howl’oweenies (your pooch can try to grab a floating hot dog from a pail of water); and a dog-treat stacking contest (the record is 28 biscuits).
Tickets: $10 per dog if purchased before Oct. 9; $15 before Oct. 16; $20 on day of event. $10 per each additional dog (must be purchased in advance). $35 for VIPs (Very Important Pooches) who get to walk near the front of the parade.
When: Vendor and pet adoption fair from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. The parade starts at 2:30 p.m.
