‘Tis the season to be jolly, and why not include your four-legged friend in the holiday festivities? Here are just a few dog-friendly events being held around the country this month.
Pooch Photos with Santa
Each year, more and more pet stores seem to be offering photo opportunities for your pooch to pose on Santa’s lap. In the spirit of the season, many stores donate some of the proceeds to worthy animal causes.
Santa will be on hand for PetSmart’s Santa Claws Photo Event in stores across the country the first three weekends of December, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For $9.95 (with a PetPerks card), you’ll receive a framed photo of your dog with the jolly guy, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to help save the lives of homeless pets.
Petco stores are also offering pooches special photo ops with Santa through December; check the store near you for the date and time.
Holiday Pawties
Kimpton’s Santa Paws Event – Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 10 and 11
Lobbies in pet-friendly Kimpton Hotels will be filled with holiday décor and treats for your pooch (as well as any other pets that can fit through the door, the chain says). Be prepared to take lots of pictures, as Santa Paws will be on hand to pose with your pooch.
“Our annual Santa Paws event is a feel-good gathering,” Niki Leondakis, Kimpton’s president, said in a press release. “We think it adds an unexpected element of holiday cheer to see so many beloved family pets all groomed and excited and ready for their picture with Santa.”
Zoom Room Holiday Events
Zoom Room, which specializes in dog-agility training, will be hosting dog-friendly holiday events at many of its locations. Come and meet i Love Dogs team members at the Holiday Party at Zoom Room’s Culver City, Calif., location on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. You and your pooch can enjoy a dog cookie decorating station, photos with Santa, presents, prizes and more, all for a $10 admission fee.
North Pole Holiday Doggie Party – Saturday, Dec. 17, 2 to 5 p.m.
Happy Paws, 316 Lafayette St., New York, N.Y. (map)
For a $10 admission fee that benefits the ASPCA, your dog can play with other pooches and will receive a goodie bag and framed picture. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP ASAP by emailing Jossymh314@hotmail.com.
