3 Dog-Friendly Restaurants in Malibu
Malibu, Calif., is home to the beautiful, rich and famous. With its pristine beaches, million-dollar homes and five-star restaurants, it’s no wonder the privileged live there. But Malibu is also home to some great surfing, and beautiful parks and canyons. And if you know where to go, some affordable places to eat, too.
After a day of hiking in Solstice Canyon Park or playing in the waves at dog-friendly Leo Carrillo State Beach, you and your four-legged friend are going to need to grab a bite to eat. (Before you go, be sure to read our 5 Tips for Dining Out With Your Dog.)
Head over to one of these dog-friendly restaurants and kick back – Malibu-style.
1. CooGiE’s Beach Cafe – 23750 Pacific Coast Highway (map), 310-317-1444
First on our list is CooGiE’s Beach Café. It’s cheap, local and a favorite stop for world-class surfers like Laird Hamilton and Kelly Slater. Pooches are welcome at the outside tables. Plus, it’s right beside the famed Pacific Coast Highway (or PCH, as locals call it). You really can’t go wrong.
2. Taverna Tony – 23410 Civic Center Way (map), 310-317-9667
Next up is Taverna Tony. This Mediterranean restaurant is located in the heart of Malibu, right at the base of Malibu Canyon. It’s a little on the pricey side, but the portions are generous, the service is friendly and they welcome dogs on the patio. If you’re starving and craving Greek food, this place is a must-stop.
3. Malibu Mutt’s Grill – 3835 Cross Creek Rd. (at Pacific Coast Hwy.), (map) 310-456-1211
Last, but certainly not least, is Malibu Mutt’s Grill. The name says it all – it’s dog-friendly and wallet-friendly. Situated in the Malibu County Mart, this counter-service grill is an excellent stop for patrons and their four-legged pals. When you’re done feeding your face, you can go window shopping and then get some dessert before heading over to the beach to watch the sunset. Now that’s a perfect day.
