Congratulations to our California Canines Photo Contest Winners!

We’d like to thank all of the proud pet parents who entered pictures of their photogenic pooches in our California Canines photo contest last month. We were so excited to see so many beautiful dogs frolicking and playing in the sun!

Without further pawdo, here are the winners:

First Place: Ellvy

Ellvy is a beautful 1-year-old English Golden Retriever.

According to her pet mom Barbara, “San Francisco is one of the most dog friendly cities around. Ellvy loves the many off leash parks to roam free, play fetch and simply bask in the glorious weather.”

“Her tail won’t stop wagging when she’s enjoying the view of the Golden Gate Bridge from Marina Green, Crissy Field or Baker Beach!”

Amelia LeRutte from our judging panel shared what made Ellvy stand out to her: “I absolutely loved this picture of Ellvy in front of the Golden Gate Bridge, bringing her Frisbee back to her dog mom. I think it perfectly captures a picturesque California landmark and Ellvy seems to have that great energy that all California canines do.”

Honorable Mention: Western Hills Wild Card aka Lucy

Based on your “Likes” in our i Love Dog Friendly California Canines Facebook photo album, our honorable-mention prize winner is Western Hills Wild Card aka Lucy, an Australian Shepherd that loves life.

Her proud pet mom, Cheryl, said “Last year we went to Cayucos,Calif., for a sheepherding camp. We enjoyed the beach alone because of the cold weather. The surfers were in their wet suits, but Lucy just needed to run.” Cheryl and Lucy traveled from Lake Tahoe to Bakersfield and found California to be very dog friendly. “One of the gas stations (with food) encouraged me to ‘bring my dog in!’”

“The thing that Lucy loves about California the most is her grandparents. She adores my mom and dad who live up near Lake Tahoe. My one travel tip would be to watch the time of year you travel. We had trouble getting her back to Texas because of the heat. Being an Aussie, Lucy gives California a big butt wiggle for travel!”
