Congratulations to our Dogs of New York Photo Contest Winners

We’d like to thank all of the proud pet parents who entered pictures of their playful pooches in our Dogs of New York Photo Contest last month. We loved seeing all the happy dogs exploring the Big Apple!

So without further pawdo, here are the winners:

First Place: Frank

Our winner, Frank, is a handsome rescued Pug-Chihuahua mix.

According to Frank’s proud pet mom, Ann, “He loves attending any kind of show where he will get love and attention, and certainly this event, Animal Rights Day in 2011 at Union Square Park, was perfect for both. He’s rather small, so he travels nicely wherever I go. I bring a ‘doggie bag’ with a travel water bowl and snacks, and always keep him leashed.

“He is a fantastic ‘Muttscott’ for my cruelty-free household cleaning products manufacturing company!”

Laura Goldman from our judging panel shared what made Frank stand out to her: “Start spreading the news … Frank is irresistible. His expression exemplifies that New York state of mind.”

Another of our contest judges, Amelia LeRutte, said, “Oh my dog! I just absolutely love Pugs, and Frank looks so majestic enjoying his day at Union Square Park. He’s definitely a pawsh Pug that belongs in New York.”

Honorable Mention: Steve

Based on your “Likes” in our Facebook photo album, our honorable mention prize winner is Steve, a 9-year-old Yorkshire Terrier.

His dog mom, Cheryl, said, “Steve moved to NYC about three years ago when he adopted his new family — us! — and took over his role as Chief Barking Officer at Gangs of New Yorkie. His main stomping ground is Brooklyn (Williamsburg and Greenpoint, represent!), where he shows his crazy Frisbee skills and plays with his ball in the dog run.

“We are also very much into cycling, so bike lanes and green parks are a must for this very active Yorkie in NYC. Our transportation method of choice to get to all the gorgeous pet boutiques like PS9 and Zoomies for toys and treats.”
