Tarpon Bay loves wagging tails, in fact they don’t charge a fee for your pooch! “We’d love to see your four-legged friend too – just bring a leash and fresh water and rent a kayak for an enjoyable adventure,” according to their Facebook page. Your happy pooch can even ride along with you on the kayak. They also offer standup paddleboards, fishing, and nature and sea life cruises, if kayaking/canoeing is not your thing. Tarpon Bay Explorers is open seven days a week, bright and early at 8 a.m. Here are the two types of tours you can take with your pooch:
Kayak Trail Tour – A great introduction to Tarpon Bay and the coastal environment where you will kayak with a naturalist through the mangrove forest along the Commodore Creek water trail. ($30 per adult and $20 per child.)
Sunset Rookery Paddle – A two hour kayak paddle to the Rookery Islands, where hundreds of birds—egrets, herons, ibis, cormorants, and pelicans—come in to roost for the night. ($40 adult, $25 child)
